well today on the radio they had this individual on who was extolling the virtues of fathers bonding with their babies. nothing wrong with that, we all say, however, he was telling that there is this new trend for men to allow their babies to suckle on their nipples as a means of comfort. so ... what do you all think? guys ... are you man enough to let a baby do that? do you think it's unnatural ... etc?

i'm not even man enough to ever consider having kids never mind letting them near my nipples! lol

I personally find that to be disgusting!
As men don't produce milk, what would be the point? Why not wash your hands and let them suckle on your finger if that's what you want!
Ugh!

And, those poor babies lol.
I'm sure that if you asked them, if they could talk,, they could come up with about a hundred other ways, or ways to bond with their daddies, and that, would probably never even cross their minds ahahaha!

I've already done that and there is also a device that allows men to breastfeed,I think it's marvellous and not before time..

Hmm. How interesting!

well personally I think that if men were meant to breastfeed then they would naturally be able to produce milk!

It makes you wonder if the idea of equal parenting can go too far doesn't it? If fathers will be expected to perform what is, naturally, a mother's role? Of course, if they want to try... it's their nipples, I'm sure. Myself, I find it weird enough when I'm holding someone else's baby and it goes for the nipple, trying to suckle through the clothing, the way they do sometimes. I'm all for breastfeeding, and It's the one thing I'm sure I'll insist on when it's my turn one day, but for right now and someone else's? I'm glad you like them, but, you've got the wrong breasts there kid!

well, maybe the men would like to bear and give birth to, the babies. Can't see many jumping on that one somehow, grin.

I agree that men should be able to suffer the terrible labour pains, frequent inconvenient trips to the toilet strange cravings and so on..it might just prevent themn from fathering so many unwanted children if they were made aware of the facts.

How would you go about altering the male phyisology to allow them to carry children, the cost emotionally, physically and economically, would be astronomical I'm not saying in the future that male births wont occur, but your right, I can't see many guys jumping on that bandwagon....nervous grin.

Post 12 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Tuesday, 14-Jun-2005 12:55:35

well in reality it's highly unlikely that males will be giving birth in the future. and what man would really choose to go through that. after all, a lot of men say at the time that they wish they could take away some of the pain for their partner at the time when she is giving birth, but given the choice, would they really? I think not. And could we really blame them? And there's another point I think that comes out of this, I actually think a lot of women would resent it if men were able to carry and give birth to the children. after all, the being pregnant, nurturing thing is the woman's job (yeh i can say this cause i'm a woman so the women won't call me sexist for doing so .. grin), but it's true, i think women, well some women anyway, would feel they'd lost a sense of purpose if the men were to carry the babies.

True, and I think it's where present-day feminism misses the point sometimes. This idea that equality means sameness.

Ahh but men have always resented women due to their ability to choose to proceed with a pregnancy...for decades women have suffered because of their ability to literally play god...

lol reminds me of a story. When I first got my kitten, my ex boyfriend was laying in bed pettingher and he didn't have a shirt on. All the sudden I hear the cat go flying off the bed. He had thrown her off the bed because she had latched on to his nipple. I thaught it was so funny. Needless to say my ex didn't! lol smile- angel
